"You can travel the world and never leave your chair when you read a book."*

**

We saw that famous quote in the shop window of a bookstore in London at the weekend. And how true it is. I'm sure we all have childhood memories of being transported to far off magical lands simply by picking up a book.

As grown-ups we often look forward to that escape we get from picking up a good summer read and join the characters in that book wherever in the world they may be.

Penguin are encouraging us to 'head anywhere when you travel #ByBook' this summer with a selection of reads they are showcasing for summer reading. Take a peek at some of their recommendations here which will transport you to far off places from Vietnam to Cairo to California when you travel by book.

Being a family who loves nothing more than immersing ourselves in a good book, what we love about Penguin Random House is that whatever age you're at, there is something for everyone.

From their Ladybird imprint for the younger age group (Miss T adores her Ladybird books) to Puffin for older kids (my boys find Wimpy Kid hilarious!), Penguin books will see you through from preschool, through school to adulthood.

We're very excited about the forthcoming Twitter chats that Penguin are hosting:

Wednesday 3rd August 2016 at 12.15pm you can #AskLadybird for younger kids reading recommendations on Twitter

Wednesday 10th August 2016 at 12.15pm will be the turn of the older kids to find out what books are great to read this summer using the #AskPuffin hashtag

Here's those twitter handles to keep an eye on what's going on:

Ladybird can be found on twitter @LadybirdBooks
Puffin can be found on twitter @PuffinBooks
Penguin are @PenguinUKBooks

They'd love to hear your questions, tips, and reading recommendations and don't forget to tell them where you'll be heading this summer #ByBook

Disclosure: Penguin will be kindly sending us some summer reading. We've not been asked to write this post but as we love reading so much, we want to share our passion for it!

  1. Oh it's so true about being transported to different places by reading a book, I long to visit some of the places I've read about. Also there is nothing more enjoyable than reading a book in the summer sunshine and they are excellent companions when travelling too.
